Two Capitals Tour – Moscow and St Petersburg, 6 Days

6 day tour | Prices | Customise Your Trip | Further notes

Our Two Capitals tour offers you the perfect opportunity to see and compare the very contrasting Russian cities of Moscow and St Petersburg. St Petersburg was the capital of Russia for more than 200 years but gave way to Moscow in 1918. With just the right amount of time in each city, your personal driver and guide will be on hand to show you the main sights including comprehensive sightseeing tours of both cities, guided visits of the Kremlin in Moscow and the Hermitage and Catherine's Palace in St Petersburg. In the evenings we suggest a visit to the ballet or perhaps a night of entertaining Russian circus or a traditional Russian folklore show.

Itinerary

Arrive in Moscow on Day 1 where you will be met by one of our expert local guides who will assist with your hotel transfer and check in.

Start Day 2 with a guided sightseeing tour of Moscow. You will see highlights such as Red Square, Lenin's Mausoleum, St Basil's Cathedral, the Bolshoi Theatre and the former KGB headquarters. Tonight why not experience a traditional Russian form of entertainment - an evening at the circus!*

Check out of your hotel on the morning of Day 3, then depart for a tour of the Kremlin grounds and one of its Cathedrals. Enjoy some free time in the afternoon, perhaps to explore the Old Arbat street, famous for art galleries, antique stores, portrait painters and cafes. Later tonight transfer to the station for your overnight train to St Petersburg.

Your local St Petersburg Russian City Break guide will meet you on arrival, Day 4, and take you for breakfast. Then enjoy a comprehensive city sightseeing tour, taking in highlights such as the Church on the Spilled Blood, St Isaac's Cathedral, the Winter Palace, Nevsky Prospekt and the majestic River Neva. We also include a guided visit of Peter and Paul Fortress, the birthplace of St Petersburg and resting place of the Tsars. Tonight is free for a ballet or opera performance at one of St Petersburg's beautiful theatres.*

On Day 5 enjoy a guided tour of the major works of art on display at the Hermitage museum. The tour is condensed into 3 hours as it would take several years to see everything! Tonight why not experience a traditional Russian Folklore show in the luxurious surroundings of Nikolayevsky Palace.*

Check out of your hotel on Day 6 and travel to the small town of Pushkin, named after the famous poet who once studied here. Visit magnificent Catherine’s Palace and see the splendour of the extraordinary and recently fully restored Amber Room. Later on, transfer to the airport for your flight home
