TCBC School Tours

We now run all our school tours to Russia under the name of TCBC School Tours. Russia is still very much our speciality but we have added one or two new destinations :) Our testimonials page is continued on that site. We look forward to hearing from you.

Insight from a teacher

“We chose this trip because it is relevant to our curriculum – we study 20th century Russian history at GCSE and 1855-1964 at A2.

One of our staff colleagues has been on four trips with different companies before and another on three, yet both agreed that travelling with RCB was the most successful and stress free in terms of hotel, excellent guides, flexibility and all the little extras on the way.

I am sure RCB guides must receive much positive feedback from their groups and we thought that our guide, Maria, was outstanding. The staff and students loved both her and our other guide Olesya, who was also excellent. Both had a lovely sense of humour and it seemed that nothing was too much trouble for them.

I was very pleasantly surprised by all aspects of our hotel, it seemed just right for a large group and the food was much appreciated too.

My favourite thing about St Petersburg was the visit to Smolny (Lenin’s office, the room where Kirov was assassinated – and all in the functioning offices of the present governor of St Petersburg), my second, and it is still a thing apart – it impressed all. The Catherine and Yusupov Palaces are also worth the trip just to see them again.

Overall, taking into account all that was included, we thought that our trip to Russia was good value for money. The absence of ‘extras’ was definitely appreciated by all.

I would be very happy to recommend Russian City Breaks to other schools and teachers. Of the six trips I have run, RCB was by a country mile way ahead of the competition in efficiency, flexibility and excellent guides.

Now that Truro school has found RCB, I know it would be very much easier to organise future trips to Russia.

Very best wishes to RCB’s entire team for such excellent organisation.”

A joy to work with

“Ben is a joy to work with. The personal touch of travelling to West Buckland to meet us was also very much appreciated. We enjoyed our visit to Kronstadt – Kristina was able to organise a tour by an ex-Naval officer whose enthusiasm was infectious even though twenty five years in the navy had made him a little over-patriotic! I can say that we would like to book Tanya now for three years time. Her knowledge of every room, within every building we visted, was very impressive.”

Impressed by everything

“Thank you for making the trip so enjoyable. The students loved it and all said they had the best time ever. Both myself and staff were very impressed by everything your company has done for us. I know my year 12 can’t wait for me to sort out next year’s trip.”

Whitley Bay High School, October 2010

Extremely reassuring

“I’d like to thank you and the team for your help organising the trip. It was as smooth as can be expected, and I have to say it is particularly reassuring to receive texts from you and Diane while we’re out there. It’s a small touch, I know, but it is extremely reassuring when leading a trip to know there is someone from the travel company available to help. Certainly, I felt like I was ringing call centres when dealing with problems on trips with other companies, and speaking to someone who wouldn’t necessarily take responsibility for action – I feel far more reassured with you guys.”

Cheadle Hulme School, October 2010

Wonderful!

It was wonderful – the girls really loved it. We’ll be in touch I’m sure for 2011-12…

Manchester High School, October 2010

Incredible experience

“I don’t think this year’s trip could really have been bettered. The trip was an incredible experience for the students and many have already expressed an interest in returning to Russia. The chance to visit both Moscow and St Petersburg in the same week is a once in a lifetime opportunity and gave them an amazing opportunity to sample not just Russian history but also culture. The individual attention provided by Russian City Breaks and the incredible quality of our guides made the trip a huge success for all our students.”

Thank you for making our trip so special

“We did indeed have a fantastic few days in Moscow. Natalia, our guide, was brilliant and saved us a fortune in places to eat etc with her local knowledge.

Emma was EXCELLENT, a real asset to your company, extremely helpful and very swift in replying to emails/queries even when she was out of the country!!!!

There is NO element of Russian City Breaks that requires improvement and i shall have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending you. Several people have already asked me for your company details. Again, many many thanks for all your help with the trip, visas, tips, etc etc etc the list goes on.

Thank you for making our trip so special.”

Russian City Breaks to the rescue!

“We all agreed that Russian City Breaks really pulled out the stops when we got stuck in Russia (because of the ash cloud) and for that alone we would give them a 5 star rating. But even before we left the service from Dan Hornby and his brother Ben in getting our itinerary together was exemplary. They are very professional and very friendly and we would heartily recommend them to anyone looking to travel the regions they cover.”

I’m so glad we had RCB organise our holiday

“Yes, I totally agree with Gill’s comments. I’m so glad we had Russian City Breaks organise our holiday. Russia is rather more complex than most other countries and you helped us avoid unnecessary hiccups so we could just focus on enjoying ourselves. I’ve already recommended the Helvetia to a colleague who’s considering a long weekend in St Petersburg.”

best wishes and thanks

You certainly came up trumps

“Dear Ben, We pronounce the Russian City Breaks tour to Moscow and St. Petersburg an unqualified success! Thank you for ensuring that everything ran as smoothly as it did and for picking such friendly and competent guides on the ground. We give them all five stars but Irina gets an extra star for being such an excellent Russian ambassadress and so obviously enjoying guiding a small [but very select!] group. Everything was as good, or better, than described by you. Well done.

A big thank-you for all your patient negotiations to get our holiday right. You certainly came up trumps and even the weather was on our side most of the time and surely you can’t take credit for that?”

Kind regards,

Our only regret: We hadn’t used you for previous trips!

“Just a note to thank you for your efforts in organising our trip to Arkhangelsk and St. Petersburg. We got back yesterday, with everything working like clockwork. Everything was on time, your transfer drivers were punctual, efficient and polite, and the hotel reservations were all in order. On my last trip two years ago, the hotel had no record of our reservation, so I was a bit nervous of that aspect this time. We were very impressed with the organisation on your part, our only regret being that we hadn’t used you for previous trips.” /public/uploads/Image/Arkhangelsk_2.jpeg

Really glad we were recommended RCB

“We had a fantastic trip, Maria was brilliant, loved the country, loved the people, loved the food, loved the Vodka! Didn’t want to come back! Really glad we were recommended Russian City Breaks, they provided a really personal service and I have already started to recommend them to others.”

More than matched our expectations

“It really was a brilliant tour and thank you very much for all of your’s and Emma’s help which was really useful. The girls all clearly really enjoyed the trip and will be talking about it I am sure for some time to come. It all more than matched our expectations.”

Headington, October 2009

Even better than 2007

“We are back, and had a wonderful trip. Many thanks to all of you for your help. Robert and I reckoned this trip was even better than 2007. The itinerary was perfect, and I will put it in the file for 2011. Incidentally, the direct flight was very welcome and British Airways were really good.”

Latymer Upper School, October 2009

A big thank you

“I’m delighted to report that we had a fantastic time in Moscow and Pereslavl, and am writing to thank you very much for all the work you put in to making the holiday such a success.

The detailed planning and preparation was something we could never have completed on our own, and it resulted in a fantastic trip, achieving everything we wanted to. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Russian City Breaks to anyone wanting a trip to Moscow or the surrounding area.”

Kind regards,

Fabulous time in St Petersburg

“We had a fabulous time in St. Petersburg. Everything worked out very well while we were away so thank you for all that you did. Maria, Galina and Sergei were all lovely and we now feel that they are friends.”

Thanks once again,

Use Russian City Breaks year after year

“The pre-departure service was outstanding, as always, and the individual time and support on offer is of a far higher level than that provided by most other school trip providers that I have worked with.

My favourite thing about the trip has to be the quality of the two guides. Marie and Elena are both fantastic guides and I cannot imagine anybody else providing better tours of their respective cities of St Petersburg and Moscow. As a veteran of many school trips with many different companies I can honestly say that they are the best guides I have come across and a major reason we use Russian City Breaks year after year.”

RCB deserves a medal!

“It’s funny, I had a conversation with one of the kids about “where does all the money go”. We made a list of ALL the things that go into making this trip – from the airline tickets to the full time coach/driver from the meals to the admission tickets to all the sights we saw from the hotels to the guides! It all adds up – but we really received an excellent trip for the price paid. I believe the parents will be satisfied upon hearing their children’s stories! Furthermore, I know of no other company that would be so flexible. Dan worked very hard to find a price we could present to the parents and allow all three teachers to participate in this amazing experience! We REALLY appreciate all the time and effort he and his staff have put in to make our tour a reality! The larger companies, I believe, would NEVER have been as accommodating!
RCB deserves a medal! :-)”
