The Hilton hotel chain has opened a new hotel by the Leningrad train station in Moscow in one of the "Seven Sisters" skyscrapers. The other hotel in Moscow which was housed in another of these skyscrapers, the Ukraina, is still closed for business for the next year while undergoing a major refurbishment.

Moscow has been confirmed as the host city for the 54th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2009. Russia won the contest last year with Dima Bilan's "Believe".
